Electric Rate Increase to be Finalized This Week

The increase would be effective July 1.

Roseville residents are set to see their electric bills increase by 2 percent this summer, and another 2 percent next year.

The Roseville City Council unanimously approved the increase at its March 20 meeting, and the ordinance will be heard again to finalize the hike on Wednesday during the Roseville City Council meeting.

The increases are needed because of new state requirements, Patch reported previously.

"Roseville Electric is recommending the rate adjustment to mitigate the financial impact to the utility due to increasing state mandated renewable and greenhouse gas emission requirements and comply with our Rate Stabilization Fund policy," the Roseville Electric's website states.

The rate increases would start July 1.
