Roseville Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting

The 35-year-old was killed after fleeing from police when officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Sierra Gardens Drive.

A Roseville man was shot and killed Saturday night following a physical altercation with a police officer after officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Sierra Gardens Drive.

According to Roseville Police, officers responded at 10:53 p.m. Saturday to the dispute at a residence in the 1600 block of Sierra Gardens Drive where a man had reportedly pushed a woman. The man was allegedly very intoxicated and armed with a baseball bat, according to police.

When police arrived, the 35-year-old man fled on foot through the neighborhood; a resident in the area reported seeing the man running and holding a gun.

Officers located him in the 1700 block of Tanglewood Lane where they attempted to take him into custody. But an altercation ensued as he resisted arrest, police said.

According to Roseville Police, one officer on the scene feared for his safety and shot the male suspect. The Roseville man was pronounced dead at the scene, police report.

His identity is being withheld at this time, and will be released with the permission of the Placer County Coroner’s Office, after they have notified his family.

The incident is being investigated by the Roseville Police Investigations Unit, and the investigation will be monitored by the Placer County District Attorney’s Office according to the department’s protocol for officer-involved shootings.  The two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, also according to department protocol.
