BIG Day of Giving Coming to Placer County May 6

ROCKLIN – Placer County residents will have 24 hours to “give where their heart is” in a special online giving challenge on May 6 to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations.

BIG Day of Giving in Placer County is part of a larger national “Give Local America” effort dedicated to funding the many nonprofits that work tirelessly to improve our communities.

During the 24-hour period, donations made to nonprofits throughout the region at GiveLocalNow.org will receive a proportionate share of matching funds—making each person’s gift go even further.  Nonprofits will also compete for various challenge prizes during the day.

Placer Community Foundation is partnering with GiveLocalNow.org and neighboring community foundations to promote BIG Day of Giving. 400 nonprofits from throughout the region are participating. This event builds on a similar online giving challenge held last year in which nonprofit arts organizations brought in 3,000 gifts totaling $525,000.

“We are excited that 78 Placer County nonprofit organizations are taking part in BIG Day of Giving,” said Veronica Blake, Chief Executive Officer of the Placer Community Foundation. “This special day gives the community a chance to focus on supporting our local nonprofit organizations and making a real difference in our community.”
