'Day With a Deputy' Event Sept. 21 in Granite Bay

The family friendly event will be held at Bayside Church.

From the Placer County Sheriff's Office

The public is invited to the fourth annual “Day With a Deputy” event on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Bayside Church in Granite Bay, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This free, family event is a great place to see all that the Placer County Sheriff’s Office has to enhance public safety – from the helicopter to the bomb squad.

Bayside Church is located at 8191 Sierra College Blvd., near the intersection of Douglas Blvd. The church has opened up its campus to the Sheriff’s Office, where most of the special teams will be set up to educate the public about what they do.

The Special Enforcement Team, honor guard, bomb squad, K-9 units, helicopter and crew, search and rescue teams, dive team and boat, 911 dispatchers, and others will be on hand, with most teams doing a demonstration during the day.

“Day With a Deputy” is put on each year by the Placer County Sheriff’s Council, which is comprised of local business leaders, who raise funds for unbudgeted equipment. The Sheriff’s Council has purchased PCSO’s Tasers, honor guard uniforms, Pepperball gun systems, ballistic shields and more. For more information about the council, go to www.SheriffsCouncil.com.

There will also be a bounce house, fingerprinting for kids, face painting, firemen’s muster, and food available for purchase. For more information, go to www.DayWithaDeputy.com.
