Empty Bowls: Helping to Feed Roseville's Homeless Population

The event, which features hand-crafted ceramic bowls from local artists, raises funds to purchase and distribute food to Placer Food Bank's local hunger-relief partners.

We received the following note from a Placer Food Bank spokesperson this week about their Empty Bowls Fundraiser to be held on Feb. 28 and March 1.

The event, which features hand-crafted ceramic bowls from local artists, raises funds to purchase and distribute food to Placer Food Bank's local hunger-relief partners (area food closets, feeding programs and charitable organizations).

In addition, we are currently soliciting donations of hand-crafted and hand-painted bowls for the event.  If you could help us spread the word throughout the community it would be much appreciated. I've attached a Press Release and a couple of photos of the bowl donations from the 2012 event for your use.

Empty Bowls is designed to increase public awareness of the critical issue of hunger in Placer and surrounding counties, and to raise funds to help meet the growing demand for emergency food assistance to those in need.

The event will feature hand-crafted ceramic bowls from local artists, and a simple meal of pasta, salad, bread and dessert. All event proceeds will be used to purchase food for distribution to the community through Placer Food Bank’s network of hunger-relief agencies and feeding programs.
