Search Continues for Missing Roseville Woman; Volunteer Offers Tracking Dogs' Help

It's been more than a month since a Sun City Roseville woman went missing, and her family still doesn't have any clue where she might be.

"There haven’t been any significant new leads or discoveries, unfortunately," Kevin Jacobson, Susan Jacobson's son, said in an email. "It is still a big mystery."

Susan Jacobson, 59, went missing May 1 between 4 a.m. and noon. Police say she told her husband she was going to run errands that morning, and her empty Honda Civic was later found in the Raley's parking lot at Woodcreek Oaks and Pleasant Grove boulevards.

Her son said a woman offered the services of her tracking dogs over the weekend, and they were able to track Susan Jacobson's scent south from the shopping center to fields near the library and aquatic center.

"While the scent trail could have been being carried by the wind – there were a few spots in the field where the dogs got really good scent markings," Kevin Jacobson said. "We don’t know why she would have headed in that direction, especially given that her car was left unlocked with her purse inside (very unusual for her – she is very careful about always locking her car and always takes/protects her purse), and that her wallet was found on the ground on the street side of the shopping center (she always keeps her wallet in her purse)."

He said there haven't been any signs of his mom since the day she vanished–which was very unusual for her.

"She is a very routine-oriented person who is very careful about securing her belongings," Kevin Jacobson wrote. "There were no signs of depression or recent changes in behavior that were noted. Anything is possible, but the family does not believe she left willingly.  She was happy with her family and at home, and was very excited to be welcoming her first grandchild in the upcoming months.  It is just bizarre for her to have gone missing under these circumstances."

He said the family is thankful for all of the community support and help from law enforcement, and noted he's hoping his mother's disappearance will stay fresh in the minds of Roseville residents.

Susan Jacobson's family has set up a Facebook page to keep residents up-to-date on the case and gather more information: https://www.facebook.com/SJmissing
