HP Layoffs: How Do You Think it Will it Affect Roseville?

Hewlett-Packard plans to cut almost 30,000 jobs by 2014.

News outlets have been reporting that Hewlett-Packard has plans to layoff thousands of people by 2014.

Although it has not been announced yet where exactly the cuts will occur within the company, HP is one of Roseville's largest employers, so it's possible some Roseville HP workers could feel the impact.

The City of Roseville reported that HP was the second largest employer in Roseville, behind Kaiser Permanente, according to October 2011 data.

The cuts will affect about 8 percent of the company's almost 350,000 employees, according to an Associated Press report. The layoffs could come in the shape of early retirement packages, the AP reports.

“We expect the workforce reduction to impact pretty much every region and every business of our company,” HP spokesperson Michael Thacker told the Roseville Press Tribune.
