Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has called for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day today, Aug. 1, and has set up a Facebook page to draw attention. The call-to-action has taken hold at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the area and elsewhere in the country. Similar packed dining rooms and quarter mile drive-through lines have been reported on social media sites.

The controversy comes from a statement by Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy, who supports the view of marriage as between a man and a woman. Dan Cathy, son of company founder Truman Cathy, said the fast-food giant was “guilty as charged” of supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”
Chick-fil-A is located at 912 Pleasant Grove Blvd. in Roseville.
