Yard House Serves Up 130 Beers on Tap, ‘American Fusion’ Food

We take a sneak-peek inside Yard House restaurant, which opens in the Fountains at Roseville June 26.

restaurant is set to open its doors in Roseville June 26, offering a thirst-quenching menu of 130 beers on tap.

Located in the Fountains at Roseville shopping center, Yard House will take over the space once occupied by Smith and Hawken patio furniture store, which closed in 2009. In a couple weeks, Yard House will introduce diners to an “old rock and roll, upscale beach feel,” according to Fountains Center Manager Gloria Wright.

“The décor inside is an industrial stainless steel look,” Wright said. “There will be three miles of lines that line up and go all the way to the bar. They tend to have a woodsy and steel mixture of accents and are known for their beers.”

Their beer menu includes house brews, ciders, stouts, ales, lagers beer blends and floats. From the glass keg room, beer lines extend above patrons’ heads to the beer taps at the island bar.

Although Roseville’s Yard House will be one of more than 30 Yard House restaurants stretching from California and Hawaii to Virginia and Florida, each has its own feel, according to Elizabeth Borsting, a public relations representative for Yard House.

“Each restaurant will be distinctly its own, yet share many common elements that include a mix of warm woods and steel accents, expansive booths and a collection of tables, outdoor patio dining, a glass-enclosed keg room with five miles of industrial tubing that carries the chilled beer to the center island where 130 taps are located, and original abstract works of art by Jerome Gastaldi,” Borsting said. “Each Yard House averages about 10,000-square-feet.”

Even though Yard House restaurants are known for their large brew selections, beer isn’t the only item on the menu. They also offer a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free foods and the fresh Hawaiian fish is flown in daily from the islands, Borsting said.

Borsting describes the food as “American fusion.”

Their menu ranges from a walnut pear salad and blue crab cake hoagie sandwich to spicy jambalaya and a pepper-crusted gorgonzola grilled burger.

A Yard House recently opened in San Jose, but Fountains Manager Gloria Wright said the Roseville location is the only one in the Sacramento area.

“We are thrilled, as is the city, and they are hiring 250 people so that will be a nice economic boost,” she said. “They also are more than just a business and support nonprofits, schools and pride themselves on helping the community.”

Yard House joins a family of eight other restaurants in the Fountains at Roseville.

Manager Dave Zulaica said he thinks that bringing in more businesses will just continue to let all of the businesses grow.

“We are a weather-driven shopping center and as long as the weather is good, the business is good,” Zulaica said.
