  • Store open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week

A newly relocated Walmart will open Wednesday, Nov. 13, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 5454 Crossings Drive is conveniently located in the Rocklin Crossings shopping center at Sierra College Boulevard and Interstate 80. The new store will be open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, and will provide Rocklin residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store is relocating from its previous location at 1400 Lead Hill Blvd. The store also offers pharmacy services.

“Rocklin is thrilled to welcome Walmart, our first tenant in the Rocklin Crossings shopping center,” said Rocklin Mayor Diana Ruslin. “Our residents will now be able to shop for things that they previously had to leave Rocklin to find. Those sales tax dollars will now stay local and we can reinvest them back into the programs and services that make Rocklin a wonderful place to live and work. Walmart is also a great community partner and we appreciate their support of our schools, service groups and nonprofits.”

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving

The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of $4,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups including: Rocklin Fire Department, Rocklin Police Department for police memorials, Whitney High School, Rocklin High School, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and the Rocklin Historical Society who will be using the grant money for the Rocklin Firehouse project.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart’s pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart’s and the Walmart Foundation’s $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in California donated approximately 10.2 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 8.5 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $26.3 million in fiscal year 2013 in California alone.  For more information on Walmart’s fight against hunger, visit http://foundation.walmart.com/our-focus/hunger.

New Store, New Jobs

The newly relocated store employs approximately 400 full- and part-time associates, including approximately 85 additional jobs created by the relocation. Store manager Jennifer Newman began her Walmart career in 1999 as a seasonal cashier, an hourly associate.

“I am looking forward to showing the residents of Rocklin our new store and all it has to offer,” Newman said. “We would like to invite the community to join us Wednesday, Nov. 13, for the grand-opening celebration and throughout the week to shop and enjoy the many vendor giveaways taking place.”

A Big Family Welcome

Walmart is happy to be part of the Rocklin community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday,

Nov. 16. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Newman and enjoy fun family activities such as free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
