Blog: Celebrate National Library Week!

It's National Library Week. Celebrate with local heroes/celebrity storytimes. Use your library card to get free things.

It's National Library Week! I'm excited because several local heroes/celebrities are showing their support by visiting the library and leading special storytimes.

A police officer and Police Chief Hahn are making separate appearances to read their favorite stories as well as a firefighter, a lifeguard, a dog trainer (with her dog!), and me. Although I don't consider myself a celebrity, I'm excited to be able to be a small part of National Library Week.

Here in Roseville, during National Library Week we provide extra benefits just for having a library card. This includes free recreational swim at the Mike Shellito Indoor Pool on Friday & Saturday. Plus free admission to the Maidu Museum & Historic Site and free fitness classes at the Maidu Community Center or Roseville Sports Center. The Roseville Sports Center isn't just offering free classes but you can also use the fitness equipment for free and the climbing wall.

All of this builds until, what might be the best of all, the Northern California Storybook & Literature Festival, on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Maidu Library & Community Center. What is better than celebrating books? This is a family friendly, free event.

I hope that you’ll join us for our special events, and help celebrate all that the libraries do for the community — maybe I'll even see you at storytime!
