Blog: Find Your Inner Poet

Roseville Public Library's 24th annual Youth Poetry Contest is here. Deadline for entries is Feb. 29.

Every famous poet started somewhere. Your child can start here. It’s time for the library’s Youth Poetry Contest!

Each year students look forward to submitting poems in this contest, which is now in its 24th year. Get your kids flexing their imagination and writing skills, and then put the pen to the paper (or fingers to the keyboard).

Poems can be up to 18 lines long, either rhyming or free verse, but be sure to send us your best as there is a limit of one entry per student. Young poets in grades 1-12 living in the area are welcome to submit. Entries are accepted through Wednesday, Feb. 29.

I want to give a special thanks to Karen Holt for heading up this contest in the library for the past 10 years and to the Friends of the Roseville Public Library for their sponsorship.
