Sirovy Remembered Through Heartfelt Messages on Facebook

Kathleen Sirovy, former principal, , but memories of her live on with those who knew her and through numerous comments on two Facebook pages.

Sirovy served as principal at Oakmont High since 2002, but began her career at the school in 1972, according to an article in the Roseville Press Tribune. In 1996, she moved to Granite Bay High School to help its opening, where her husband, George, works as an athletic director and a special education teacher, according to the article.

During her time within the local schools, she touched many lives, as evidence by the comments left on "Smiles for Sirovy" and "Remembering Kathleen Sirovy" Facebook pages.

Ian Utz - Mrs. Sirovy was truly an inspiration. Her smile and warm compassion for every student made seeing her a privilege. Her advice was an extraordinary thing to receive; there was never a time when she wasn't sincere in what she said. Mrs. Sirovy came to Oakmont every day ready to make it a better place, and that's what I remember. If you had a question, she had some type of answer. If you had a problem, she had some solution. Mrs. Sirovy was one of the most loving women I knew, and it was an honor to know her in my first three years of high school.

Michael Migliore - To say you were an amazing woman is a total understatement. Your easy going attitude made everyones high school life that much better.

Brian Rhorer - Its amazing to think of the countless lives she touched while working for the district. A truly influential person in our community. Rest in peace.

Hanna Marie Adams - My favorite Sirovy memory was on my Graduation Day in 2007. I was told that Mrs. Sirovy was looking for me. When we found each other, she told me that she would be walking with me into the ceremony. It was one of my favorite memories of graduation day and my senior year.

Janel Bratt Schultz - Oakmont has lost a compassionate and caring soul. Always there for her fellow man. For the pleasure of knowing her, I will always be grateful.

Kate Smith - Thank you Mrs. Sirovy for being the kind, warmhearted person you were. You're 'can-do' attitude encouraged and inspired all who attended Oakmont to achieve their dreams through academics. May your soul rest in peace. You will be missed.

Erika Buckmaster - Mrs. Sirovy, you were such an incredible and inspiring person. You made the school what it is and allowed everyone to learn and live in a safe and fun place. It won't be the same without you. I know that our school and community will never forget you. Thank you for everything, rest in peace. We all love you ♥ ♥ ♥

Jordan Tyler Heckley - Mrs. Sirovy you were an insperation truly one of the best people I knew. You were so welcoming and just truly loved everyone! Thank you for all you did for me and the entire student body at Oakmont high school you will never be forgotten.

Amanda Rose Hinkson - RIP Mrs. Sirovy... you were the greatest of principal I ever had. You were there for everyone of your students and you always were willing to strike up a conversation with each and everyone of them. There will be many kids who will pass through Oakmont's halls and never know the joy you brought not only into my life but the lives of all your students. God bless you Mrs. Sirovy and may you forever rest in peace.

The two Facebook pages are meant for people to post their thoughts, memories and condolences to the family. "Remembering Kathleen Sirovy" was set up Saturday afternoon and within less than 24 hours, more than 400 people had "liked" the page. Comments kept pouring in as well. More than 1,300 people currently "like" "Smiles for Sirovy," where people have posted condolences as well.

A memorial has been set up at Oakmont High School on Cirby Way, where people have left flowers, notes and candles.
