Blog: First 5 Placer: Supporting Parents and Children Ages 0–5 in Placer County

Helping Placer County children ages 0-5 grow up healthy, safe and ready to learn.

Those in the parenting trenches know that raising a child is one of the most important and rewarding jobs out there -- but it can also be extremely challenging.

To support parents and caregivers in this role, First 5 Placer is here to help and will be using this blog on Roseville Patch to post regularly on tips and links to services about health, safety and early childhood development for children ages 0-5 in our community.

For this first post, we are taking this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the services we support in the Roseville area.

Want to learn more about the different programs and services? There is a page specially dedicated to detailing all the resources available in the community on the First 5 Placer website. Check it out at www.first5placer.org/forfamilies.

Why First 5? Ninety percent of brain development occurs in the first 5 years of life.  The experiences children have during the first 5 years affect their health, their ability succeed in school and work, and their ability to sustain healthy relationships. Research proves children who reach their full potential come from families that are strong and connected. Strong families are supported by communities that are caring and responsive.

Looking forward to being an added resource to help parents with young children in our community!
