A Baby on the Way!

Baby Gibbs is due around Halloween.

Since launching Roseville Patch, I haven’t done much writing about myself, but I wanted to let you all in on some exciting news at the Gibbs household: We’re having a baby!

It’s surreal to think that in about 6 months, I’ll have a little Roseville Patch sidekick.

My husband Alex and I married in October 2009 and since day 1 of being a married couple, we became somewhat experts in answering the “When are you having kids?” question.

Having kids was something Alex and I talked about before we got married and knew a family would be in our future. We just didn’t know exactly when.

Just a few weeks after we celebrate our third wedding anniversary, we’ll be welcoming Baby Gibbs into the world. Our baby is due around Halloween.

I won’t share all the details about how we found out we were expecting, but it was a moment in my life I will never forget. The moment started as disbelief, followed by tears of happiness and complete shock.

“Ready or not, we’re having a baby,” Alex and I kept telling each other.

Is a couple ever really ready for the life changes that come with a baby? Probably not.

Some friends of ours who have a 2-year-old daughter offered one piece of advice leading up until baby’s arrival: Enjoy life just the two of you.

So until the end of October, that’s exactly what Alex and I will be doing. We’ll take advantage of our quiet house, kid-free date nights and last-minute vacations.

We’ve had a few months for the baby news to fully sink in — it’s becoming even more real as my baby bump is starting to make its debut — and we could not be more excited!

What advice do you have for enjoying the pregnancy before baby arrives? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Awesome news! Congrats Lauren! Motherhood is the most amazing gift. There really is no better feeling. All the insanity, pain, discomfort, sleepless nights, dirty diapers, etc ... SO. WORTH. IT!

Congratulations! Enjoy each other and get sleep when you can because your lives will never be the same after the baby is here...but in a good way. :) I'm very happy for you and your husband!

Thank you Jeremy! That's good advice. I'm definitely taking advantage of sleeping in on the weekends because it will probably be years before I'll be able to do that again!

Congratulations Lauren! My suggestion is to take that vacation you have been thinking about. Life is very different once the baby arrives. Peace, Kim McLaughlin
