Editor Says Goodbye to Roseville — Sort Of

For the last few months, my days (and nights) have been filled with diaper changes, late-night feedings and getting to know my baby girl.

Raegan Elizabeth was born Oct. 30, 6 pounds 15 ounces. Now, at almost 3 months old, she has quite the little personality coming through. She’s stubborn, bashful, curious and loves to move. She has the cutest little smile I’ve ever seen (I’m a little biased, of course), has earned the nickname of Houdini (it only takes a few seconds for her to wiggle her arms free from her swaddle), loves to play airplane, playfully kicks, splashes and makes a huge mess during bath time, has started cooing almost nonstop and gets the biggest smile on her face when we wiggle our eyebrows at her.

Being a family of three has been a huge adjustment for my husband, Alex, and I, but one that brought a bunch of joy to our lives. Raegan has yet to sleep through the night and refuses to nap some days, which sometimes makes for long days and nights. But probably one of the most adorable, but most frustrating things Raegan does is flashes her big gummy grin when we try to put her down for a nap, or at 5 a.m. when I’d love for her to go back to sleep. Instead, she’s wide-awake and ready to play.

She's a ton of fun and now I can't imagine my life without her. She makes me smile every day and we're constantly amazed at the things she does.

For the last few months, Raegan has had my unidivided attention. But last week, I came back to work and was welcomed with some changes. Not only am I now working with a little sidekick in tow, but I’m no longer the local editor for Roseville Patch. You may occasionally see my byline pop up on the site though. In my new role, I’ll be contributing to Patch sites across California, including the Sacramento-area sites. 

This is definitely a bittersweet move for me: I launched the site in June 2011 and watched it grow from a website with a tiny following into an online hub where many Roseville residents come to for their local news. In that time, I’ve really gotten to know Roseville and many of its residents and have enjoyed covering this city that I also call home.

What that means for Roseville Patch readers is that you’ll be seeing a few new bylines on the site (bylines you may have noticed while I was away on maternity leave). Three talented editors, Cody Kitaura, Joshua Staab and Justin Cox, will mostly run the site. Feel free to reach out to them with story ideas, questions and comments at roseville-ca@patch.com.
