Chief Breaks Down Roseville's Crime Stats: Violent Crime up 18 Percent (VIDEO)

Violent crime in Roseville went up 18 percent last year, "mostly because of a significant increase in robberies."

Roseville Police Chief Daniel Hahn gave a presentation on local crime stats last week. He began his discussion by talking about metal thefts -- catalytic converters in particular -- as something that the department can immediately improve upon. (Read what they're doing about it here).

Starting at the 4:15 mark in the video above, Hahn looks at last year's results.

Violent crime in Roseville went up 18 percent last year, "mostly because of a significant increase in robberies" compared to the previous year. The rise is due in part to a significant dip in robberies in 2011, but it's still something the department will be working on.

In the video, Hahn elaborates on the stats and encourages the community to call in any suspicious activity, even if you're not sure a crime has taken place.
