Crime Watch: Bat Tests Positive for Rabies, 7-Eleven Robbery

Bat Tests Positive for Rabies

About six calls recently came in regarding sick bats, according to Roseville Police. One bat tested positive for rabies, which is a fairly common disease found in wildlife in the area, police said. Police advise people to keep pets’ rabies vaccinations current and not to approach wild animals. Also, the Placer SPCA offers $5 rabies vaccinations at their facility from 6-7 p.m. on the last Wednesday of every month.

7-Eleven Robbery

The 7-Eleven store on South Cirby Way at Wildwood Way was robbed just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, according to Roseville Police. The yet-unidentified robbers were described as two Hispanic males, 35 to 40 years old, medium height and build.  One wore a long-sleeved black turtleneck shirt and a black ballcap with a "P" insignia, and was armed with a pistol.  The other wore an Oakland A's ballcap and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.  The suspects left in a silver car, which a Roseville officer found abandoned up the street on Wildwood Way.  The car had been reported stolen from South Sacramento yesterday. No one reported being injured during the robbery.

On Sept. 23, a resident reported suspicious people on Napa Loop: two males driving an older red or maroon four-door car similar to a Lexus or Acura who were cruising slowly through the neighborhood as if casing the area. The driver was described as a black male with dreadlocks, and a male passenger of unknown race. They were .

Tow Company Robbery

At 6:46 p.m. on Sept. 28, tow company employees discovered a man who had climbed over the fence into their tow yard and then broke windows to get into their office. The employees confronted and struggled with the intruder until officers arrived to take him into custody.  A 29-year-old North Highlands man was arrested and taken to the Placer County Jail on suspicion of burglary and making threats.

Break-in at Woodcreek Oaks Golf Course

At about 3 a.m. on Sept. 29, officers responded to suspicious activity at the Woodcreek Oaks Golf Course. Someone had broken into the golf cart shed and rode the carts around the course, damaging some of the greens and one of the carts. The suspects weren't located.

Woodcreek High Snack Shop Attempted Break-in

Someone tried to break into the snack shop at Woodcreek High School again Friday night, Sept. 30. The burglars pried plywood off the windows, damaging the window frames. Nothing was taken.

Award Offered for Maidu Park Copper Theft

Residential Burglaries Roundup:

Monday, Sept. 19

Sometime between Sept. 19 and 27, a home in the 4500 block of Napa Loop was burglarized while the resident was away.  The suspect shattered a back glass sliding door and took items.  Some of the stolen property was found in the street in Rio Linda, and returned by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday, Sept. 22

Sometime between 5 p.m. on Sept. 22 and noon on Sept. 23, a home in the 1000 block of McRae Way was burglarized.  The burglar got in by removing the screen from an unlocked window.  Jewelry, medications, a camera and cell phone were taken.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

Just before 9 p.m. on Sept. 27, a resident of the 400 block of East Street came home and found that his front door had been kicked in. He heard someone running out the back door.  He found things moved around, but nothing taken.
