Driver Talking on Cell Phone, Driving Stolen Car

A Roseville motor officer spotted a driver of a car talking on his cell phone, attempted to get the driver to stop and resulted into a short chase around 9:33 a.m. July 29. The driver was traveling westbound on Roseville Parkway when the officer signaled the driver to stop. Instead, the driver sped away, turned onto Antelope Creek Drive and collided with a concrete divider, blowing a tire. The driver jumped out of his still-rolling vehicle and ran away on foot through the Creekside Shopping Center, police report. The officer chased him on foot and detained him without further incident.

The vehicle he crashed had been reportedly stolen from an auto-body shop in Auburn on July 27.  A 26-year-old male from Auburn was arrested on suspicion possession of stolen property, evading an officer, and hit and run causing property damage.

Weapon Drawn During Road Rage Incident

A gun was drawn during a road rage incident that occurred about 4:24 p.m. July 29 near Lead Hill Boulevard and Sunrise Avenue, according to police. The victim was driving east on Lead Hill Boulevard, behind what he described as a slowly traveling black Cadillac. The driver passed the Cadillac and the driver of the Cadillac made a rude hand gesture. The victim signaled for the driver of the Cadillac to pull over into a store parking lot, and then he confronted the Cadillac driver about the rude gesture. The Cadillac driver pointed a firearm and threatened the other driver, then drove away.

The suspect was described as a white male about age 24, 6-feet 2-inches tall and 250 pounds, with brown hair, driving a newer-looking black Cadillac sedan.

Troubled Teen Fled, Found

Roseville officers, firefighters and the Sacramento Police Department’s helicopter helped locate a troubled teen who fled about 8 p.m. July 31. The teen fled in the area of Douglas Boulevard and Eureka Road and was located by an officer about an hour later. She was found safe and was returned to her parents. 

Catalytic Converter Theft Stopped

A witness observed someone trying to steal a catalytic converter from a Toyota 4 Runner about 10 a.m. July 30 in a store parking lot in the 6700 block of Stanford Ranch Road. The witness saw one male under the vehicle and another male in a vehicle nearby, possibly acting as a lookout, according to police.

The suspects were described as a white male in his 40s, 6-feet tall and 175 pounds, with straight brown shoulder-length hair and a goatee, and an Asian male in his 20s, 5-feet 9-inches tall, 170 pounds, with short, straight black hair.  The Asian male drove away in a faded blue Honda Accord, and the white male left on foot.

Items Stolen From Church, Men Arrested

A Roseville officer stopped a driver on Foothills Boulevard near Main Street and found suspected stolen property and burglar’s tools in the vehicle, later found to belong to a nearby church. The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. July 28. Officers checked the area and discovered that a storage container belonging to a church in the 1000 block of Main Street had been broken into, and items taken.  The stolen property was returned to the owner, and the occupants of the vehicle, two Sacramento men, ages 19 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of grand theft and related charges.
