Crime Watch: Gas Siphoning, Vandalism at Sierra Gardens Elementary

Window Smashed at Sierra Gardens Elementary

At about 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 14, someone smashed a window at Sierra Gardens Elementary School, setting off an alarm.  Officers responded, but the suspect(s) were gone on arrival. It's unknown if they entered the school.  Nothing was reported missing.

Last week Roseville Police reported a residential burglary in the 700 block of Darling Way.   Thanks to an observant neighbor, we now have a possible suspect vehicle, a white Mercedes E-series four-door sedan that was parked in the victim's driveway on the day of the burglary.  A possibly Hispanic woman in her 30s with dark hair was sitting in the passenger's seat.

Gas Siphoning Arrest

Just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 14, an alert resident called police to report someone walking the neighborhood carrying a gasoline can, siphoning gas from vehicles in the area of Mountain Park Drive and Farridge Drive.  Officers responded and arrested a 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from Rio Linda, on suspicion of petty theft and other related charges.

Metal Theft

Sometime before Jan. 7, someone stole an irrigation device from the area of Pleasant Grove Blvd. and Paseo Del Norte Drive.

Vehicle-Related Crime:

Sometime overnight Jan. 8 and 9, someone stole the headlamps from a 2-door sedan parked in the 600 block of Riverside Avenue.

Just after midnight on Jan. 10, officers responded to a vehicle burglary that had just occurred in the parking lot of a fitness center in the 300 block of North Sunrise Ave.  A Rocklin police officer responded to assist, and detained two suspects in the area of Sculpture Park.  Officers located not only property taken from the vehicle in Roseville, but other items, including a wallet and ID/credit cards stolen from vehicles in the Elk Grove area. A 21-year-old male from Sacramento and a 21-year-old female from Roseville were arrested on suspicion of burglary and related charges.

During the morning hours of Jan. 11, an unknown suspect tampered with two vehicles in the Maidu neighborhood. Between 12:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. in an apparent vehicle theft attempt, someone tampered with the ignition of a Toyota Tacoma pickup in the 1900 block of McLaren Drive. The vehicle wasn't moved, and nothing was taken from it.  During the same time frame, a Honda Accord sedan was moved from the 1900 block of Sidesaddle Way to the 1900 block of Branding Iron Way. A neighbor saw a vehicle (no further description) pushing the Honda Accord up the street at about 6 a.m. The suspect(s) also stole stereo equipment and a gym bag from the Accord.

Between noon and 2 p.m. on Jan. 11, someone stole a dump trailer from a gated storage yard in the 700 block of Riverside.  Witnesses reported seeing a full-size maroon SUV, possibly a Ford Excursion, towing the trailer from the lot.  Two heavyset Hispanic males, one in his 30s and on in his 50s were seen in the area at the time and could be associated with the suspect vehicle.

Overnight Jan. 12/13, someone broke into a car parked in an apartment complex parking lot at 720 Sunrise Ave. and removed the installed stereo system as well as small items from the vehicle.

Overnight on Jan. 12/13, someone got into an unlocked car on Tanner Court, and took a portable GPS unit from the center console of the vehicle.

Between 12:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Jan.14, someone stole a silver 1995 Honda Accord 2-door from 1500 block of Vineyard Road.  The stolen car was found in north Sacramento the next day, unoccupied, with some parts missing.

Sometime between Jan. 14-16, someone entered an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of Dawnridge and took loose change and other small items.

Between 10 p.m. Jan.15 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 16, someone stole a black 1993 Honda Accord 2-door sedan from an apartment complex parking lot at 1451 Rocky Ridge Drive.  Around the same time, someone broke into a vehicle at the same complex, taking tools and a GPS navigator.

Sometime overnight Jan. 15/16, someone stole a white 1992 Honda Accord 2-door from an apartment complex at 8800 Sierra College Blvd.

Sometime overnight Jan. 15/16, someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Fuhrman Way and took several items.

Commercial Burglaries:

Overnight Jan. 8/9, someone went through a roof vent and into a restaurant in the 1500 block of Eureka Road, and tried unsuccessfully to break into the safe. Nothing was taken.

At 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 12, someone broke a window of a restaurant in the 1000 block of Pleasant Grove Boulevard, and took a small amount of cash and several cases of beverages.

Residential Burglaries:

Monday, Jan. 9

Between Jan. 9 and 10, someone pried window screens from windows of a home in the 1400 block of Lockhart Way. It doesn't appear that anyone entered the home.

Tuesday, Jan. 10

Overnight on Jan. 10/11, someone forced the side door of a garage in the 600 block of Springfield Circle. Fortunately they didn't go into the house and nothing was taken.

Saturday, Jan. 14

At 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 14, someone kicked in a front door of a home on Cloverdale Court, while residents were home. Fortunately the unknown suspects didn't go into the house and nothing was taken.

Monday, Jan. 16

During the day on Jan. 16, someone kicked the front door and burglarized a home in the 1600 block of Vernon Street.
