Solicitor Scam

On the afternoon of Aug. 10, a resident of the Theiles Manor area allowed a door-to-door solicitor to come into her house.  The "solicitor" claimed to be selling magazine subscriptions for a company called United Circulation (later found to be a fictitious company), and the resident placed an order.

About a week later the resident discovered that an additional unauthorized check had been written against her account to the phony company, using a check taken from her checkbook.  The suspect was described as a white female adult in her 20s, heavyset, wearing tight clothing, with light brown curly hair.

Tips from Roseville Police on solicitors:  If you don't want to be bothered by door- to-door solicitors, post a "no soliciting" sign by your door. If solicitors still knock on your door after you've posted a sign, they're trespassing, and you can call police and have them cited.  Roseville's Municipal Code requires solicitors to have a valid Roseville business license and a solicitor's permit from the police department, so you can call police and ask for an officer to respond to check solicitors and verify they have the proper permits.  We recommend never letting strangers into your home.

Church Break-in

Sometime overnight on Aug. 27-28, unknown suspects broke into a church in the 2400 block of Olympus Drive.  Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Burglary Suspects Caught on Camera

Between 2 and 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 12, unknown suspects burglarized a home on Woburn Court by prying a back window, and took household electronic equipment.   The suspects were seen on a neighbor's surveillance camera.  They appear to be a white male and a white female, both in their 20s.  The female had long, straight brown hair.  They were driving a black newer-model BMW sedan with tinted windows and a sunroof.
