Crime Watch: Stolen Catalytic Converters Found in Hotel Room, Gang-Related Fight & More

Parolee-At-Large Flees, Jumps Out of Upper-Story Hotel Room

A parolee-at-large jumped out of an upper-story hotel room trying to flee from Roseville Police at 4 a.m. April 15. Police eventually arrested him and other suspects. 

At 4 a.m. April 15, officers went to a hotel room in the 1000 block of Lead Hill, attempting to locate a parolee-at-large believed to be staying there. As officers entered the room, the man they were looking for jumped out of the room's upper-story window and fled.

Officers located him under the Lead Hill freeway overpass. He had broken bones from his jump, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and then taken to jail.

A search of his room produced drug paraphernalia, firearms, and property stolen from a residential burglary in Citrus Heights and a vehicle burglary in Folsom. Another occupant of the room, a 28-year-old man from Rancho Cordova, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine for sale, parole violation and other related charges. Two women, a 23-year-old from Orangevale and a 27-year-old from Roseville were arrested for drug possession.

Gang-Related Fight on Sierra Boulevard

At 2:14 p.m. Monday, April 15, a gang-related fight broke out on Sierra Boulevard at Shasta Street between a group of male youths on foot, and the occupants of a small black sedan.

During the fight, one of the youths on foot tried to stab an opponent with a knife, and was hit by the car. Fortunately no serious injuries were reported.

A 19-year-old male from Roseville was arrested on suspicion of participating in criminal gang activity and assault with a deadly weapon. A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were also arrested. The investigation continues to identify and contact the other involved parties.

Stolen Catalytic Converters Found in Hotel Room

At about 11 p.m. April 15, an officer spotted a vehicle associated with recent catalytic converter thefts in the parking lot of a hotel on Harding Boulevard.

The officer contacted suspects in their hotel room, and found stolen catalytic converters, methamphetamine, and stolen property from a vehicle burglary in Sacramento.

A 35-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Sacramento, were arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, identity theft, drug possession and other related charges.

Placerville Man Found with Stolen Items, Arrested

At 6:45 p.m. April 14, an officer checked on people in a car parked at a convenience store at the corner of Washington Blvd. and Main Street, and conducted a parole search on the vehicle, finding checks, ID and financial documents belonging to numerous theft victims in El Dorado County and other areas of the region.

A 27-year-old man from Placerville was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, conspiracy and violation of parole, and a 29-year-old Placerville man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and possessing stolen property and methamphetamine.

Residential Burglaries: 

April 9:

Between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. April 9, someone entered a home in the 2200 block of Independence Way though an unlocked rear slider, and rummaged through dresser drawers in a bedroom. Nothing was taken.

Between 9 p.m. April 9 and 1:30 a.m. April 10, someone opened the front and side doors to a garage in the 1900 block of Casterbridge Drive. Nothing was reported missing.

Commercial Burglaries:

Overnight April 8/9, someone broke a window and burglarized a photography business's storage room in the 300 block of Washington Blvd. Lighting equipment was taken.

Overnight April 10/11, someone broke the window of a battery store in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd., and stole two car batteries.

Vehicle Burglaries, Vandalism, Stolen Cars:

April 8:

Overnight April 8/9, someone stole a tire and rim from a car parked in the 500 block of Oakland Avenue.

April 9:

Between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. April 9, a truck-driver parked his truck behind a store in the 900 block of Sunrise Avenue, and left it unlocked, engine running while he unloaded items. During that time, someone stole his backpack, containing ID, and a TomTom GPS device.

Between 1 and 2 p.m. April 9, someone cut a securing chain and stole a leaf-blower from the back of a maintenance truck at Junction Elementary School.

Sometime between April 9 and 10, someone stole the catalytic converter from a Toyota T100 pickup parked in the 1300 block of Blossom Hill Way. The replacement cost is estimated at $2,500.

Overnight April 9/10, someone stole the catalytic converters from a Toyota Tundra and a Toyota SR5 pickup in a condominium complex on Somer Ridge Drive. Overnight April 10/11, someone stole the catalytic converter(s) from a Toyota Tundra pickup in the same complex.

Overnight April 9/10, someone got into a locked vehicle in an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Junction Blvd., and took an expensive purse and wallet, backpacks with school books, and a substantial amount of cash. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle.

April 10:

Overnight April 10/11, someone poured paint thinner or something similar onto a vehicle in the 1400 block of Champion Oaks, damaging the paint.

April 11:

Between 4:10 and 4:35 p.m. April 11, someone got into a locked car parked in the southeast corner of the mall, and stole an iPad. The victim had parked and then taken the iPad out of her purse, hiding it under the seat. There was no sign of forced entry.

Overnight April 11/12, someone broke the window of a car parked in an apartment complex in the 7900 block of Foothills Blvd., and took an iPad that had been left between the driver's seat and center console.

April 12:

Between 5:10 and 6 a.m. April 12, an unknown suspect removed a lock from a locker in a fitness center in the 300 block of North Sunrise Ave., and stole a set of car keys, then stole the car from the parking lot--a white 2004 Lexus SUV. The vehicle is still missing.

April 13:

Between 7:30 and 9 a.m. April 13, someone stole a landscaper's truck from a parking lot in the 300 block of North Sunrise Avenue. The landscaping crew had left the truck unlocked and the keys inside the cab while they worked nearby. The still-missing truck is a white 1999 2-door Ford Ranger pickup with a large white camper shell. It had a lawn mower and other lawn maintenance tools in the back.

April 14:

Between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. April 14, someone smashed the windows of a car parked at the bike trail parking lot on Orvietto Drive, and took a gym bag. A silver SUV with fancy rims was seen in the area at the time of the theft, but it's unknown if it was connected.
