Black Friday Galleria Fight Video Goes Viral, Mall Officials Respond

Westfield Galleria at Roseville mall officials briefly responded this afternoon to the Black Friday fight that has now gone viral. (Warning: Video contains brief graphic language)

Westfield Galleria in Roseville Mall officials would only offer a short statement when asked about the Black Friday mall fight that has now gone viral.

In the video, posted on YouTube, two men are seen punching and "kneeing" another man while quickly knocking him into some sort of display barrier. All the while, shoppers scream and scatter.

"The safety of our customers is always paramount and it is truly unfortunate that some people chose to behave so badly," said an unnamed spokesperson in the statement. "The matter is under investigation with local authorities and we are cooperating fully."

One video on YouTube, possibly the original, has more than 69,000 views. The video contains brief graphic language. CBS-13 News reported the fight broke out shortly after midnight when the mall opened for the popular annual after Thanksgiving sale.

Questions as to what measures were taken to prevent Black Friday fights and if any new measures will be taken in the future, were left unanswered by mall officials.

Roseville Police Department Spokesperson Dee Dee Gunther said no arrests were made at the mall during the Black Friday shopping hours.

However, police did respond to two incidents.

"We had officers there," said Gunther. "We did respond to a couple of disturbances. I don’t know if one of them was the one."

Gunther said the events officers responded to were "dissipated" by the time police arrived.

Police responded to two disturbances at the mall on Black Friday in 2011 as well, Gunther said.

"Nothing that made national news," Gunther said. "We did have a couple of disturbances last year that were handled between security and police officers with no arrests."
