Update: Firefighters Contain Grass Fire West of Roseville

The fire broke out at Fiddyment Road and Athens Avenue in Placer County Thursday afternoon.

Firefighers have contained a grass fire in Placer County near Fiddyment Road and Athens Avenue, west of Roseville, after burning 184 acres.

According to Daniel Berlant with CAL FIRE, the fire started at 1:23 p.m. Thursday. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No structures were threatened.

"The area is underdeveloped, open grass land," Berlant said.

Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln fire departments assisted with the blaze. Thirteen fire engines, three water tenders and one bulldozer were on scene, Berlant said.

Berlant said almost every year CAL FIRE responds to a grass fire in this area.
