Gang Member Arrested in Roseville Shooting, Attempted Robbery

He allegedly attempted to rob a woman at gunpoint and then fired a handgun at least three times, according to Roseville Police.

A 28-year-old Sacramento man was arrested in a Placer County courtroom Thursday, Aug. 22 in connection with a shooting and attempted robbery that occurred in an apartment complex on Conroy Lane in July

A man confronted a woman at gunpoint outside an apartment building in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane July 25, and demanded she empty her pockets.  According to Roseville Police, when she told the suspect that she didn't have anything to give him, the suspect fired his handgun at least three times.  

No injuries were reported, but one of the shots broke the bedroom window of an apartment close to a resident who was sitting inside.

Poyer Bill Pila Vaenuku, an alleged member of the Tongan Crip gang, was arrested while he was appearing in court on another case, according to Roseville Police. 

Investigators are unsure if the attempted robbery and shooting are gang related.

The Placer County District Attorney's Office filed charges against Vaenuku of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and attempted robbery. He is being booked into the Placer County Jail on $400,000 bail.
