Man No Longer Suspect in Trying to Lure Child into Car

Roseville Police interviewed and released a man Friday who they initially suspected was trying to lure a child into a car near a Roseville school.

Roseville Police interviewed and released a man Friday who was near a Roseville school. Police are still searching for the suspect.

The incident occurred near Catheryn Gates Elementary School in Roseville Thursday afternoon - a man driving a white van reportedly tried to lure a child into his van.

There have been , in which a male has tried to offer a ride to children near schools. Police do not know if they are connected. The descriptions of the strangers and their vehicles has varied widely, police said.

After officers interviewed the man and verified his whereabouts during the incident at Catheryn Gates and other similar incidents around schools in the Roseville area, they concluded that he was not involved in any the suspicious incidents.  He is not considered a suspect, and was released without charges, Roseville Police announced Friday night.

Roseville Police detectives will continue to investigate the various reports. Parents are encouraged to be watchful and to report any suspicious incidents to police so that they can be investigated.
