Between the morning of March 3 and 9 a.m. on March 4, a home in the 1300 block of Meadowvista Way was burglarized while the residents were away.  Silverware and silver serving pieces were taken. The burglar made entry by kicking the front door.  Neighbors reported a man going door to door in the area on March 2.  He was described as a black male adult, approximately 30 years old, 6'0" tall with an average build and short hair (or bald), holding a clipboard. It's unknown if he had anything to do with the burglary.

(Burglaries below were added to the map on March 13):

Sunday, March 4

Between March 4 and 8, someone burglarized a vacant house in the 100 block of Hickory Street, taking the stove.

Friday, March 9

Attempted burglary — Between 2:45 p.m. on March 9 and 1:45 p.m. on March 11, someone kicked and damaged the front door of a home in the 1400 block of Quail Circle, while the residents were away.  Nothing inside was disturbed or taken.

Sunday, March 11

Garage Burglary — Overnight March 11/12, someone broke into a vehicle in the 400 block of Avila Drive, took the garage remote from the car, and used it to open the garage door. They then went into the garage and stole tools.

A tip from Roseville Police: The safest place for your vehicle at night is inside your locked garage. If you have to park outside, remove your garage remote and all other valuables.

(Burglaries below were added to the map on March 20):

Tuesday, March 6

Between March 6 and 13, someone went into the backyard of a vacant house on Parkview Drive and stole a motorized pool sweep.

Monday, March 12

Attempted residential burglary — Between March 12 and 14, someone took the screens off the bedroom windows of a home on Carpenter Way. No entry was made and nothing was taken.

Overnight on March 12/13, someone cut a padlock, went into the backyard of an unoccupied home in the 2300 block of Corin Drive, and took appliances from the outdoor kitchen.

Friday, March 16

Possible attempted residential burglary — At about noon on March 16, a resident of an apartment in the 700 block of Gibson Drive heard a noise and saw the door handle of her front door move, as if someone was trying to pick the lock. She screamed, and the door handle motion stopped. No suspects were seen.

Saturday, March 17

Attempted residential burglary — At 3:27 a.m. on March 17, someone unscrewed a front porch light, then kicked the front door of a house in the 1100 block of Kris Way. Perhaps realizing that someone was home, the unknown suspect left without going into the house or taking anything.

Between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. on March 17, someone entered an apartment in the 1100 block of Conroy Lane by forcing open a sliding glass door, taking TVs, electronic items, jewelry, cash and other items.

(Burglaries below were added to the map on March 28):

Tuesday, March 13

Attempted residential burglary — Between 8 p.m. March 13 and 9 p.m. on March 14, someone went through an unlocked side door into a garage on Kerwin Court. Fortunately, the homeowner had a deadbolt lock on the door leading from the garage to the house. The burglar tried to pry the lock, but wasn't able to get into the house. Nothing was taken.

Tuesday, March 20

Between 7 and 9 p.m. on March 20, someone pried off a piece of plywood covering a dog door that led into a garage in the 1700 block of Chilton Drive.  The burglar then entered the garage through the dog door and took some power tools.

Wednesday, March 21

Between 8:30 and 9:45 p.m. on March 21, someone entered a home on Europa Street while the resident was out, and stole a purse, cash and jewelry. It appears the burglar entered through an unlocked side gate and an unlocked sliding glass door.

Burglaries below were added to the map April 4:

Three residential burglaries or attempted burglaries were reported in the Sierra Gardens neighborhood between March 22 and March 31.

Thursday, March 22

The first burglary happened sometime between March 22 and March 28 in the 1500 block of Swallow Way, while the residents were away.  It appears that the unknown burglar went through the side gate and then forced open the side door into the garage to gain entry to the house. A jewelry box containing costume jewelry was taken.

Thursday, March 29
The second burglary in this area happened sometime between 10 p.m. on March 29 and 9 a.m. on March 31.  Someone broke the front door of a house in the 1700 block of Meadowlark Way while the residents were gone, and took jewelry and other items.

A man was attacked by burglars after he arrived home and found three burglars in his home on March 29 around 5:40 p.m. The Weston Way resident was punched in the face by the burglars before they ran out of his back door with resident’s property.

Roseville officers responded and searched the area, including the greenbelt and nearby areas in Orangevale, with the help of neighboring law enforcement agencies, but were unable to locate the suspects.

The victim suffered minor facial injuries from being punched, but declined medical attention at the scene.  The suspects entered the house by breaking a back window, and took some collectible china figurines and small electronic items (an iPod, a cell phone, and a laptop computer).

A Roseville officer searched the greenbelt area again the next day and found most of the victim's stolen property where it had been dropped by the fleeing burglars.

The suspect who assaulted the resident was described as a white male adult in his mid-20s, 6'0 to 6'1" tall, with a slender build and blue eyes.  He wore a black ski mask over his face, a long-sleeved brown shirt and blue jeans.  The other two were described only as wearing dark clothing.

Saturday, March 31
At 5:30 a.m. on March 31, officers responded to audible alarm activation at a house in the 600 block of Loretto, and found that the front door had been kicked open. The residents were away. Nothing appeared to have been taken, so it's possible the burglars were scared off by the alarm.

Roseville Police Tip: In each of these three incidents, as in other recent burglaries in east Roseville, the residents were out of town when the burglars hit. In many cases, the residents had motor homes that were normally stored in a side yard or were parked in front of their house while they were getting ready to leave. The burglars appear to be watching the neighborhood for residents loading up their motor homes, or other signs that residents are planning to leave town. Burglars tend to flee if an audible alarm activates or if they find out someone is home.

Prevention measures could include a well-maintained audible alarm system, a metal security screen door over the front door, and/or having a trusted house-sitter stay in the house when you're away.  RPD is actively investigating these burglaries and providing more patrols in the area.
