Police Say More Teens Found Looking for Unlocked Cars to Burglarize

Two Roseville boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested.

Just a few days after Roseville Police arrested a pair of 16-year-olds on suspicion they were stealing from unlocked cars, authorities have run into a similar situation.

Around 2:30 a.m. on June 30, a witness noticed two males walking around the Roseville Heights and Los Cerritos neighborhoods, "checking car doors to see if they were unlocked," according to a police crime log.

"As officers arrived, additional citizens contacted them and pointed them in the direction of the suspects," the crime log states. "Officers detained two teenage boys from Roseville, ages 16 and 17, who had loose change, lighters and other suspected stolen items on them."

Police say the teens went through 10 to 15 unlocked cars, taking any small items they found.

The teens were arrested on charges of prowling, possessing stolen property and other related charges, according to the crime log. They were released to their parents.
