Rocklin Plastic Surgeon Accused of Botching Surgeries

Clients were allegedly given the wrong breast implants, required reconstructive surgery and suffered injuries.

A Rocklin plastic surgeon is accused of botching 15 operations, allegedly giving women the wrong size of breast implants and requiring many to seek reconstructive surgery to fix the doctor's mistakes.

The Placer Herald reports that the legal complaint against Efrain Gonzalez of Advanced Med Spa was filed by the executive director of the Medical Board of California.

"The lengthy document outlines 56 causes for discipline going back to 2008, including one patient who reported that at the end of a surgery she awoke to find not Gonzalez, but rather an unlicensed surgical technician applying sutures to her abdomen, while Gonzalez was not in the room.

...

"Another patient reported that following breast augmentation surgery in 2012, she is unable to use her right hand, according to the complaint. Another reportedly suffered necrosis of one of her nipples following a breast augmentation, and still another alleged a vaginal rejuvenation surgery so botched that it left her unable to have sex, use a tampon or even wear pants."

The Herald reports that Gonzalez is licensed as an obstetrician and gynecologist, but practices as a plastic surgeon. His Puerto Rican medical license was suspended for five years in 1997, according to the Herald.

The complaint requests that a hearing be held to revoke or suspend his licenses.

These horror stories appall me. People, please do you research on your surgeon and the facility where the surgery is to be performed. This should not be the responsibility of the patient, but unfortunately it is. Dr Rhys Branman Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center
