Roseville Fire Stops Propane Leak in Railcar

The railcar was in Roseville on its way to Reno when the leak was detected.

A potentially hazardous situation was thwarted Tuesday morning with the help of the Roseville Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Task Force.

Union Pacific Railroad staff discovered a liquid propane leak in a railcar traveling through Roseville on its way to Reno. The leak was stopped by the Roseville Fire Department after they were notified at 8:34 a.m. Oct. 23.

The railcar was reportedly stopped under the Foothills Boulevard overpass between Cirby Way and Atkinson Street. When the Roseville task force arrived and confirmed the leak's source, they requested the railcar to be moved to a safer location, in case of a catastrophic failure of the car, according to the Roseville Fire Department.
