Roseville Firefighters Contain 8-Acre Grass Fire

The fire broke out around 4:22 p.m. Sept. 15 in West Roseville.

From the Roseville Fire Department:

The Roseville Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a grass fire near Veterans Park North located in West Roseville. Fire crews arrived to find a 1/2 acre of dry grass burning at a moderate rate of spread in a field located East of Fiddyment Road just North of Blue Oaks Blvd. Fire crews began attacking the fire as additional resources were called to the scene.

4 brush units and 1 Battalion Chief from the City of Roseville responded. Additional units from Cal Fire responded including 1 brush unit, 1 water tender and 1 Battalion Chief. Crews were able to contain the blaze at just 8 acres under the direction of acting Battalion Chief Rich Sisk. Lower temperatures and calm winds aided firefighters in containing the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for over 5 hours mopping up hot spots. The fire burned into a grove of mature oak trees which proved challenging for firefighters to fully extinguish. Crews patrolled the area throughout the night and into today ensuring that there were no flare-ups.

No structures were threatened or damaged. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
