Police: Crime is Down in Roseville

Most of the crime in Roseville is thefts, mostly from vehicles, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Despite what some residents might think, crime in Roseville is declining, according to the Roseville Police Department.

The perception of increased crime could stem from the fact that the Roseville Police Department has beefed up their communication strategy — through their crime newsletter, they’re keeping residents more informed about crime in Roseville neighborhoods. The increase of information going out to residents on crime doesn’t mean crime is on the rise here, police said.

  • Roseville's violent crime rate is consistently 35-40 percent lower than the state average.
  • Violent crime in Roseville is at its lowest point in 16 years.
  • Roseville's crime rate (per capita crime) was 44 percent lower in 2011 than in 1995.
  • Seventy-three percent of Roseville's crime reports are thefts, and of those, about half consist of thieves stealing stuff out of vehicles and can be prevented by always locking your vehicle and removing all valuables, or better yet, parking in your locked garage.
