Roseville Resident Embezzles $400K From Thunder Valley Casino

Erika Michele Carlton was a former Thunder Valley Casino human resources manager.

A Roseville resident pleaded guilty Thursday, Aug. 2, to embezzling up to $400,000 from her former employer, Thunder Valley Resort and Casino, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Erika Michele Carlton, 38, was a human resources manager at the Lincoln casino and reportedly embezzled and stole up to $400,000 in money and property between Nov. 12, 2006 and March 9, 2011, the U.S. Department of Justice reports.

Carlton used Thunder Valley credit cards to buy items like raffle prizes supposed to be for employees, but instead she kept some of the items or returned them for store credit or merchandise. The items, such as gift cards, TVs, iPods and DVD players, were to be given to employees at employee functions like Christmas parties, according to court documents.
