Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes into Cabinet Business

The crash sparked a fire that caused major damage to the Roseville business.

A suspected drunk driver reportedly crashed into a Roseville business around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. A fire erupted during the crash, causing major damage to the building.

According to Jeff Carman, spokesman for the Roseville Fire Department, the driver was driving on Atlantic Street coming from Interstate 80, when the driver failed to make a turn, crashing into a cabinet business located at 98 Jefferson St.

When Roseville Fire crews arrived on the scene, the fire had already spread to the building's roof, Carman said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Both occupants of the vehicle were trapped in the car following the crash. A passerby stopped and smashed the back window of the car to free the driver and passenger. No injuries were reported, Carman said.

Carman said the fire caused extensive damage to the building, which was built in the 1940s. He estimates damage at more than $100,000.
