A late-model Chrysler Sebring was stolen from the Roseville Auto Mall around 7:45 p.m. on New Years Eve. When Roseville Police arrived at the high-traffic area, they could not locate the suspect. That's when they received a helpful tip. Here's the story, couretesy of the City of Roseville:

A helpful citizen motorist called our dispatch center, reporting that he had seen officers in the area searching for something, and also saw a vehicle with no lights drive quickly into the movie theater parking lot on North Sunrise Avenue. With that information, officers searched the area again and spotted the stolen vehicle being driven onto eastbound Interstate 80 from Taylor Road. Officers followed the vehicle and signaled for the driver to stop on Hwy. 65 near Pleasant Grove Blvd. The driver yielded and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect, a 26-year-old male transient, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, reckless driving, probation violation and other related charges.
