Wrong-Way Driver Arrested, Suspected of DUI

The driver reportedly drove the wrong way on Highway 65 in Roseville.

A driver was arrested Tuesday night, Oct. 2, after California Highway Patrol officers spotted him driving against traffic on Highway 65 near Sunset Boulevard.

According to Dave Martinez with CHP, the driver, in a white Mercury Grand Marquis, drove past officers going the wrong way on Highway 65.

Roseville Police also received multiple reports of a wrong-way driver. Officers responded and with the help of CHP officers, the driver was located on southbound Highway 65 at Blue Oaks Boulevard.

Roseville officers assisted CHP in subduing the combative driver, who was taken into custody by CHP.

David Arthur Waltrip II, 32, of North Highlands, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest.

No accidents or injuries were reported, according to Martinez.

It was such a blessing the officers were able to stop and subdue the driver before he caused any type of accident. He could have killed many people and destroyed so many lives. In my book these guys are heros and so good to hear citizens called in. Too many times people assume others call and don't which could be devestating.
