City Plans to Make Downtown Waterfront More Walkable

Part of the city's downtown revitalization plan includes a creekside makeover.

Last month, Roseville City Council approved a . Part of that plan includes making Roseville's Dry Creek waterfront more walkable - an idea that was highlighted in a recent Sacramento Bee article

Top priorities for the revitalization include the construction of a Town Square, more parking in Old Town and waterfront changes, like constructing the library bridge, relocating the Icehouse Bridge and an amphitheatre along the waterway.

According to the recent Sacramento Bee article, moving the Icehouse Bridge will provide a link to existing trails. The relocation of the fire station will allow for different development that makes Dry Creek more of a focal point of Downtown Roseville.

Funding from these downtown projects will come from sources outside of the General Fund, Payne said. Remaining redevelopment agency bond funds and project savings, public and fire facility funds, grant fund allocations and strategic improvement funds will be the primary funding sources, according to the city.

These are all plans the city hopes to implement within the next few years.

What do you think of these plans? Is making the waterfront more walkable a good idea? What else would you like to see in Downtown Roseville?

Well, they have certainly tried all sorts of things to renovate downtown. I suppose the bars in Historic Old Roseville have been a success. They did some nice redecorating there, but outside of the bars, I don't think there's much out there. Maybe this new idea will work out. It is something different. How did the RiverWalk in Reno work out? Is this similar or is it on a much smaller scale?
