Area Baseball Stars Shine in All-Star Game

Players from Carmichael, Davis, Elk Grove, Fair Oaks, Rosemont and Roseville in game at Raley Field.

WEST SACRAMENTO — The second game of the High School Baseball Showcase doubleheader at Raley Field was a chance for local star players to stand out on Sunday.

The rosters included players from Roseville, Carmichael, Davis, Elk Grove, Fair Oaks and Rosemont. Players were divided into Team Powers and Team James and Co., the latter team being coached by former Major League player Dion James.

Team Powers won 11-10 in the bottom of the ninth, thanks in part to Alex Mugnaini of and George Hatamiya of . Mugnaini hit a triple that scored two runs and Hatamiya also hit a triple that scored three.

- pitcher Malik Pruitt gave up four runs but got a strikeout.
