Despite some parents' concerns for closing , Roseville City School District board of trustees voted to close the school in 2013, according to the Roseville Press Tribune.
Many parents and teachers voiced concern about the closure when the district called it a possibility. In our poll, 67 percent of voters said they thought the school should not close.
Commenter Chuck Johnson wrote: "Sierra Gardens has the best teachers who really care about our children and the education they deserve. ... Sierra Gardens is a fixture in the neighborhood. ..."
Also according to the Press Tribune article, School will serve sixth- through eighth-grade students and sixth-grade classrooms will be located at the Sierra Gardens Elementary campus.
A Facebook page was also set up in an effort to save Sierra Gardens. On the page yesterday, the page moderator wrote: "They may have voted tonight, however the battle is not over!! We need to have our voices be heard!!!"
