The school is ready to open for the 2012-13 school year. Jeff Ancker will be principal.

Children in west Roseville may be attending a new middle school next year.

Barbara Chilton Middle School, located on Bob Doyle Drive in Roseville, is expected to open for the 2012-13 school year. Jeff Ancker, current principal at , will be principal of Chilton.

In January, district superintendent Richard Pierucci sent out a letter to parents explaining that the school will house fifth through seventh graders its first year. In the 2013-14 school year, the school will serve sixth- through eighth-grade students.

Students within the WestPark development will attend Chilton Middle School, according to Pierucci’s letter.

Approximately 300 students are expected to attend the school next year.

Initially, residents hoped the school would open in time for this school year, but low enrollment caused the delay, according to an article from the Roseville Press Tribune in February 2011.
