Roseville Native Summer Sanders in Running for KCRA Award

Summer Sanders attended Oakmont High School and went on to Stanford University and the Barcelona Olympics.

Oakmont High School legend and Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders is again in the running for an award from a local TV station's viewing audience.

Sanders is currently in second place in the KCRA A-List viewer awards for "Best Locally Grown Pro Athlete," trailing former Lincoln resident and UFC fighter Urijah Faber.

Sanders, who medaled four times in the 1992 Olympics, has a pool named for her at the Roseville Aquatics Complex. Her father's Granite Bay home burned in a 2007 fire, according to ESPN.
