Textbooks for Liberia Fundraiser Set Today

Five bands will hold a benefit concert tonight at Club Retro.

A benefit concert today in Roseville will benefit an organization started by a Sacramento graduate that collects textbooks for students in the African country of Liberia.

The bands Official Response, Aquanet, Autumn Sky, The Hungry, and Crow Canyon are playing at Club Retro, 1529 Eureka Road, from 5-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to the Textbooks for Liberia Organization started by .

Robbins started the organization when she was an 8th grader at in Carmichael. Since then, the project has sent about 20,000 books to Liberia.

The concert is being held in order to raise money to send the next shipment.

"We gathered up a bunch of local bands so we're giving them a chance to come together and play while raising money for Textbooks for Liberia," Robbins said.

Robbins will attend Stanford University in the fall. Graham Richardson, a Bella Vista High School student, will take over Textbooks for Liberia this upcoming school year.
