I appreciate your comment Jeremiah and I don't think I could've said it better myself, so I won't beRead More redundant. Except to repeat only one thing-- This is why Mr Melhman: "the age limit is based on the medical risk profile that would endanger both the employee and the public he is tasked with serving. The likelihood of sudden debilitating circumstances increases with age and these jobs have a stress level which can precipitate it." I'm still of working age yet from day to day I have bizarre health issues pop up. I run abt 3-5 miles per day, 5-6 days a week. I'm in excellent health. I'm also clever and a bright individual. Yet I've begun having pains in places, and I'm also getting forgetful. My eyesight is decreasing. I get stressed easier than I used to. Because this is our natural human aging process. we age. we just do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, in reading this article, I didn't read, nor did I realize we were discussing being let go at a certain age. I thought we were talking about applying for the job, where can age limit is set due to medical and statistical averages. So I agree with you, I do not think a person should be let go the day they turn 62. Most others do also, that;s why we are offered pensions at particular ages for incentive. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lastly, your point using vote vs age limits is like comparing dogs to elephants, and completely irrelevant. We're talking about a person's capability to perform a certain type of job.

**** And I bet SouthernBelle knows something many women and men have forgotten - it's a whole lotRead More more fun acting out the roles when men act like men and women act like women and we all play the game and enjoy life as equal but thankfully different! **** Any good man who values his life knows women are superior to men and don't argue with them because even if you win, you lose!! :-) **** hahahahahahahahahaha!!! Yep, exactly how I feel. There are many many careers out there to choose from. Maybe a girl's passion is to put on 100 lbs of equipment and run up stairs to fight a fire and carry out a 250 lb man- but I'm guessing more aren't than are interested in that. But I'll tell you what, if my daddy's house catches fire and some gal runs up his stairs she best be able to carry him down because HIS life depends on it. And if she can't, then her taking a job she's unable to perform is just wrong.
southernbelle July 12, 2014 at 04:01 pm
one more thing--Mr Melhman, Not sure how long you've been in the area or if you are familiar with LARead More county hiring for Police and fire. But over the past 10 yrs they have had to lower their physical ability testing, as well as their hiring requirements because they had to account for women's physical abilities, and not enough men or women were passing the orals due to prior drug use (even trying it once counts), criminal records (DUI's fall in this), etc. This is also why the quality is lower than it used to be. We haven't seen nothing yet! It's abt to get a whole lot worse because no one wants police officer jobs anymore. so sad how we treat them!

This is exactly why I don't help women anymore. There have been several times in my life, when I'veRead More helped a woman who should never have been in a violent relationship with a thug in the first place. And every time, they've eventually put themselves back into the same situation. Going forward, rather than help, my response will be to laugh. These tramps are not worth it.

there is something missing in this story. I don't know what but, I don't think this will be theRead More last we hear of it. Also I heard on one of the news station/web she was in contact with her mom. Again IDK what the truth is. It's better to be safe then sorry. I'm sure PD did their job and looked into everything they could at the time. ONly time will tell where this story goes.

People she was 15 at the time didn't know anyone. She had been in this country not long enoughRead More toknow her way around. He could've of made threats of taking the baby away if she tried to do anything. If you never been to a horrible experience like this don't know how much control this sick people over kids minds. If an adult can brain wash other adults into a cult. How much more this sick guy over this girl. So let's not make assumtions of what we don't know. He needs to pay for what he did.

Wait a minute! Lets get the facts straight. The girl is 15 years old in 2004. Marrys her captor 3Read More years later at age 18. 5 YEARS later at age 23 in 2012 has a child with her abducter. Two years later at age 25 she walks into a ploice station and says she was kidnapped 10 years prior. In a earlier report it said the girl had access to a car and neighbors seen her often drive away alone and go shopping and run errands. She had access to a computer that was online and that in fact is how she got in contact with her sister. My question is, Do abducters always give their victims a car and internet access while trying to keep them captive? I doubt it. So that part of her being held in captivity sounds very fishy to me. Also she has a job and is in contact with other people and a employer daily. What kidnapper have you ever heard of getting his victim a job, suppling them a car, provides them with internet access, allows them to leave unattended to go shopping and run errands. She could have done exactly just what she did hundreds of times prior. Yet didn't! And why is that? This whole story doesn't add upat all. This whole thing is starting to sound like that balloon boy story from several years ago. Just a publicity stunt to get sympathy and donations.

The crooks like these guys ruined the mortgage business for honest guys like myself. The governmentRead More has imposed so many more new laws to prevent fraud that we now have to pay more in licensing fees. It is also more expensive for consumers to get loans because the government created appraisal management companies. Now appraisals cost $50.00 to $150.00 more compared to before 2008.http://rosevillemortgagebroker.com/

Maybe the liberal media can report on how many children are killed by US drone strikes abroad?
Southern Man December 15, 2013 at 07:07 am
I signed up for Patch to receive NEWS, not propaganda from another biased liberal media source.Read More Clearly, you detest guns. How about letting the reader make up their own mind by BALANCING your story with information about the tens of millions of legal, sane gun owners who DIDN'T commit crimes this year? Or, better yet, report on how legal gun owners thwarted crimes this year. Yes, it's true, every month law abiding gun owners protect themselves from criminals under the protection of the Second Amendment. Too bad there are so many "journalists" abusing the First Amendment in an effort to nullify the Second.
