I am a 16 year math teacher at Arcade Fundamental Middle School- teaching 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

A couple of years ago, I won a seat on the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District Board of Trustees- which has given me a lot of insight to what goes on "behind the curtain" in the world of education.  

I am also a little bit of a political junkie, and for a while entertained the idea of running for State Assembly this year. When I discovered how much money it would have taken to run a campaign, I decided against it.

Perhaps someday I might seek a political office- but for now, I am kept pretty busy with my teaching job, athletic director of the school, coaching track, school board duties, and spending time with my family.  

My political views vary.  My Dad, who is about as conservative as they come, thinks I am a bleeding heart liberal, who has been warped by my membership in a teacher's union.  Many friends and colleagues think I am a wacko right wing nut- because I am often outspoken against government spending, and intrusion into our daily lives.

I am very passionate about education issues, and I hope that when I post on that subject it will generate some thought, and even more questions.  I think that our public education system does well overall, but there are a lot of flaws that I would like to see fixed.
