Now Open: Sports Page Restaurant, Bar

A new upscale sports bar and restaurant is open on Eureka Road in Roseville, features local wine and brews.

Sports Page Restaurant and Bar not only hopes to fill a need for a sports bar in one area of Roseville, but also fills a spot left vacant by other restaurants.

Located at the corner of Eureka Road and Lead Hill Boulevard, Sports Page has opened in a location where other restaurants before it have failed. River Rock, followed by Town Lounge, and most recently Greenhouse Restaurant, all once occupied the space.

But Sports Page manager Teresa Loughner and owner Steven Yager said they’re doing things differently. They describe the restaurant as an “upscale sports bar.”

“It’s an upscale sports bar with a really comfortable classy feel but still a fun atmosphere,” Loughner said. “What we offer is something that is lacking in the area. We feel like we fill a niche.”

On the menu are sports bar-inspired fare like pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, house-made pickles, blackened chicken sandwiches, Guinness brats and hummus made in-house. They also feature a wild meat patty of the month with meats like bison, antelope and buffalo, Loughner said.

“Everything we have is quality, but it’s also really well priced,” Loughner said.

Sports Page has been open for almost two months, but will celebrate a soft grand opening tonight, Dec. 23 with live bands and drink specials. The space has the capacity for live entertainment, is equipped with nine TVs, a pool table, jukebox and a hefty happy hour menu.

Their happy hour runs during the week from 3-6:30 p.m. with prices ranging from $3-$6 and a late-night happy hour daily from 10 p.m. to midnight.

They also have plans for some exciting patio events, once the weather heats up. In the works are future brewery tastings and wine pairings. Loughner said they’re also looking at bringing in high-end wine on tap – something that has been popular in cities like San Francisco, Loughner said.

For their soft grand opening, they’re celebrating with performances by Sacramento band Layst and other special guests. The party starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 23 with live music at 9 p.m. There is a $3 cover charge. They’re also hoping to host a larger grand opening celebration after the New Year.
