Sangria to Fill Former Piatti Restaurant

Azita Alizadeh, sister of Abe Alizadeh, will open the restaurant, according to The Sacramento Bee.

Piatti Ristorante closed its Roseville location in September 2010 but recent activity has some people talking. An article in The Sacramento Bee revealed that Azita Alizadeh, Abe Alizadeh's sister, will be opening a Mediterranean restaurant in that spot.

Despite the announcement, the City of Roseville has not received any permits for work such as a business license or signs, according to Karen Garner with the city's economic development department. Garner said the owner is currently doing "touch-up" type work that does not require a city permit.

The restaurant, called Sangria, is expected to open sometime in April, according to the Bee.

While this is good business news, the Alizadeh name has a reputation in Roseville. Developer Abe Alizadeh went bankrupt and was accused of stealing state tax dollars, the Bee reports.

The 5,000-square-foot spot at the corner of Douglas Boulevard and E Roseville Parkway has been vacant since the Italian restaurant closed.
