Roseville Council May Ban Outdoor Medical Marijuana Cultivation

The issue of outdoor pot gardens will be re-addressed during the June 20 Roseville City Council meeting.

Medical marijuana users may not be able to grow their own gardens outdoors in Roseville if an ordinance passes by Roseville City Council.

Roseville City Councilmembers will during Wednesday's meeting.

Staff is proposing an ordinance that would prohibit all outdoor cultivation of medical marijuana. The proposed ordinance would also limit indoor cultivation to under 50 square feet in a grower’s primary residence. The city manager would have the authority to give permission for more space if needed.

The after some residents complained of the "skunk-like" smell of marijuana.

During the July 2011 meeting, councilmembers listened to public comments for about an hour and determined they needed more information to move forward with an ordinance that would regulate outdoor pot gardens.
