'Bad Hatter Bandit' Robs Another Bank

The man is suspected of robbing banks in Roseville, Natomas and Antelope.

A man suspected of robbing banks in Roseville and Natomas recently is also linked to a bank robbery in Antelope Feb. 7. 

The man, dubbed the "Bad Hatter Bandit" because of his variety of hats worn during the robberies, has struck at the Douglas Boulevard Chase Bank in Roseville on Jan. 10, and at the Chase Bank on Del Paso Boulevard in Natomas on Nov. 29 and Jan. 29. Most recently, he has been linked to a Chase Bank robbery at 4117 Elverta Road in Antelope on Feb. 7. 

The suspect and his accomplices are all considered armed and dangerous, according to a release from the FBI.

A fourth Sacramento area bank robbery is now officially linked to the Bad Hatter Bandits. On Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, one of the Bad Hatter Bandits, the primary suspect, entered Chase Bank located at 4117 Elverta Road in Antelope and presented the teller with a demand note. During this robbery, the primary suspect wore a tan fedora, dark blue dress shirt, striped tie, oversized eye glasses and black gloves.

The Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force (SVCTF) urgently needs assistance from the public to identify this primary suspect and his accomplices who are suspected of robbing four Sacramento area banks. While no weapons were seen during the commission of any of the robberies, the suspects are all considered armed and dangerous. 

The primary suspect is a black male who stands 5-feet and 7-inches to 5-feet and 9-inches tall with a small build. His attire has been different for each robbery but he frequently wears business attire; however the suspect arrived at robbery location with a leather folio and one of a variety of hats, including fedoras. When he approached the teller, the suspect indicated that he was armed and offered a note or verbal demand for cash at each location. 

A second black male who stands 5-feet and 9-inches to 5-feet and 11-inches with an average build accompanied the primary suspect into the bank during the robbery in Sacramento on Jan. 29, 2013. This second suspect approached the teller, and told her that he had a weapon. 

According to witnesses, additional accomplices have been seen in the Bad Hatter Bandits’ getaway vehicles. To date, all vehicles used for the commission of the robberies have been stolen and a different vehicle was used for each robbery. 

To date, the Bad Hatter Bandits have robbed the following four Sacramento area Chase Bank locations: 

3501 Del Paso Road, Sacramento on Nov. 29, 2012; 

1800 Douglas Boulevard, Roseville on Jan. 10, 2013; 

3501 Del Paso Road, Sacramento on Jan. 29, 2013; 

4117 Elverta Road, Antelope on Feb. 7, 2013.
