Business News: The Counter to Close May 20

The Counter fans have about two weeks left to visit the Fountains at Roseville location — .

In a Facebook announcement to fans, Roseville Counter staff said the closing was a result of the difficult economy. Here's an excerpt from their message:

Thank You Roseville. We will miss you too.

For the last three and a half years we have had the privilege of serving some of the nicest and most loyal guests anywhere. It brings us great sadness to have to say goodbye, but the last day that The Counter will be serving guests is Sunday, May 20th.

The reasons are complicated but in short, it was very difficult on us economically at the center given the variations in traffic from summer to winter and midweek to weekends. We did our best for as long as we could, and the employees, managers and owners of our restaurant truly enjoyed serving you.

Please come and visit us these last few weeks and have a great burger or two or three or four between now and then, and remember us when you are in the Bay Area where we have five restaurants and are still growing.

Following last week's , a group of fans started a Facebook page, "Save The Counter," where fans are free to share their sadness about the closing.

Many Roseville Patch readers shared their opinion on the news last week both on our site and on our Facebook page too.

"Loved The Counter....we eat there often! Very sad to see it go. I have many fond memories of eating there with my family including this last Sunday!," Stephanie Ruby Feldman wrote on our Facebook page.
