Open for Business: Annie’s Sno Biz

If the summer heat has you craving something cold and sweet, you’re in luck. A new Roseville business is offering just that.

Annie’s Sno Biz is a shaved ice business on wheels. Sometimes you’ll find it plopped at the corner of Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard and McAnally Drive in Roseville, other times the mobile business will be serving up shaved ice at local events.

Anne Renee of Roseville started her business about three months ago in preparation for her last child entering college.

“I needed something to do,” she said. “Something to help pay for these college tuitions.”

For about the last 20 years, Renee has been a stay-at-home mom to her three now adult children and was looking for an outlet to fill her time and make some extra money.

“My kids are grown up, I should be retiring, not starting a business,” she said jokingly.

Renee said she and her husband were throwing around business ideas, when her husband spotted a mobile shaved ice business near Marysville. The owner was selling it and the Renees were in the market to buy it. That’s when Annie’s Sno Biz was born.

Renee offers 44 flavors from the traditional and most popular cherry to other fruit flavors like kiwi, cantaloupe and pomegranate. A few unusual flavors are also on the menu like birthday cake, cotton candy and Tiger’s Blood, a mixture of strawberry and coconut flavors (don’t let the name scare you from testing this one out – it’s one of Renee’s favorites, she said).

A cream is also available to top the snow cones, which is a mixture with sweetened condensed milk. The shaved ice comes in small, medium and large sizes and range in price from $3-$5.

“We have something for everyone,” Renee said.

Traffic at the stand is mostly from people driving by, Renee said, and mostly children.

“It’s fun to see the kids when they have their first taste of shaved ice,” Renee said.
